A group of yoga enthusiasts in Fairfield has formed a non-profit organization to bring the physical and mental pursuit of tranquility to needy people who can't afford to go to studios.

Yoga for All relies on volunteer yoga instructors who so far have brought programs to venues such as the Center for Women and Families and Mercy Learning Center, both in Bridgeport, organizers said.

One of the organizers, Deborah Carroll, described Yoga for All as "yoga on wheels."

"We do not have an office space or studio in which we teach," she said. "We go to centers that need our help."

Carroll, who operates her own for-profit yoga studio in Fairfield, said the non-profit has applied for 501 (c) tax-exempt status as is temporarily operating under the umbrella of another non-profit group, ProMindful Inc. It is a Stamford organization that promotes holistic health and mindfulness through classes, seminars, lectures and other activities.

Carroll operates Yoga for Everybody, a studio at 27 Unquowa Road that has hosted fundraisers for the nonprofit.
