Three Fairfield children won awards in the Westport Arts Center's recent "Toy Stories" toy design competition, which received more than 200 submissions from kids ages 5 to 14 years old.

Vincent Ohe, 8, took first place in the age 6-to-9 category for "Beasts," while Taylor Soyland, 9, of Fairfield's Southport section took third place in the same category for "March and Play Music Tiger."

Francis Ohe, 11, of Fairfield, placed second in the 10-to-14 category for "Clockwork Commandos."

Toy-makers Melissa & Doug served as judges for the competition, according to a center news release.

First-place winners will have a soft toy replicated by Child's Own Studio, a Canadian maker of custom soft toys. Second- and third-place winners received a toy gift basket from Melissa & Doug and a gift certificate from Max's Art Supplies in Westport. The contest was held as part of the center's recent "Toy Stories" exhibit.
