Fairfield man charged in attack on his wife
A Clinton Street man was arrested Thursday and charged with assaulting his wife during a domestic incident at their home.
Brooks Adams, 41, of 95 Clinton Street, was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree strangulation and two counts of risk of injury to a minor shortly after 8:30 p.m., according to police reports.
Adams allegedly grabbed and twice choked his wife after returning home from work. The altercation began as a verbal one when Adams couldn't locate his cell phone, but it turned physical.
The incident played out in front of the couple's two children, ages 7 and 10, the report states. The older child tried to separate the parents and instructed the younger one to dial 911 then leave the home.
Police who responded to the call witnessed marks on the woman's neck, and were told that at one point she could not breathe.
Adams was being held on $50,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court Monday morning.
