A Fairfield man has been charged on a warrant with first-degree larceny by embezzlement.
Alastair Crawford, 54, of 4334 Black Rock Turnpike, had taken $83,900 worth of Jensen silver on consignment from a customer in order to sell it, police said. In April, the customer and her lawyer told police that Crawford owed her the money, and despite repeated demands, had not been paid for the silver or had it been returned.
The warrant was served July 18 by police detectives.
His bond was set at $25,00 and he appeared in Bridgeport Superior Court later that day.
