A local man in custody for attempting to break into an occupied Redding Road home earlier this month now faces additional charges in connection with two other burglaries.

Joseph K. Johnson, 25, of Oldfield Road, was charged Friday at Bridgeport Superior Court with break-ins Jan. 28 on Sherwood Place and Jan. 31 on Taintor Drive.

He was also charged with failing to appear in court in connection with burglary on Dalewood Avenue in May 2011.

Johnson was charged with two counts each of third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny, in addition the failure-to-appear charge, and was held on bonds totaling $160,000.

Johnson was arrested Feb. 1 while driving on Bronson Road as he and two companions were fleeing the scene of an attempted burglary at an occupied Redding Road home. He was identified by the homeowner as the man who tried to force his way into her house.

During the investigation into the Redding Road incident, police said they recovered evidence and received information from interviews that indicated Johnson had been involved in the other burglaries.
