A Fairfield nurse was named "Diabetes Educator of the Year" by the Connecticut Alliance of Diabetes Educators.

Barbara Nadolny, the coordinator of diabetes education at Norwalk Hospital, was cited for compassion and dedication to patients and to community outreach.

Nadolny, a registered nurse credentialed as a certified diabetes educator, has been employed by Norwalk Hospital for 27 years and has worked in diabetes education since 2000.

She received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the College of New Rochelle, and is pursuing a master's degree in diabetes education and management at Columbia University.
