The power outages sparked in Fairfield by Wednesday's storm were repaired by nighttime.

The United Illuminating Co., which in early afternoon reported about 1,600 customers in Fairfield had suffered power disruptions, said at 9 p.m. there were no more outages.

Most of those affected by the afternoon outage were in the Black Rock Turnpike area, where primary power wires went down near Candlewood Road.

Those who initially lost power included homes, businesses, Fire Station 2 and nearby schools.
