Fairfield resident charged with sexually assaulting girl for several years
A Warren Street man has been charged with long-term sexual assault on a minor following an investigation that began at the end of April.
Eduardo Rivera, 46, was charged Monday with first- second- and fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. He was held on a $200,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
The Police Department's Youth Bureau was contacted by the state Department of Children and Families on April 28 about the sexual assaults on a Fairfield girl who is now 13 years old. The assaults took place over the course of the last six or seven years, police said.
Police Detective Beth Irizarry worked with DCF, a forensic interviewer, a forensic nurse from Yale-New Haven Hospital and the juvenile prosecutor in investigating the allegations. She said that is standard procedure for these types of cases.
Police declined Tuesday to release additional details regarding the case, but said Rivera does not have any previous criminal history.
