Fairfield's Sunday forecast: A wintry start to spring
Spring arrives tonight, but the weather won't be all that evocative of the season.
The National Weather Service predicts that the high temperature will be only about 44 degrees under sunny skies in southwestern Connecticut, with a north wind 6 to 8 mph becoming east.
Springtime starts officially with the equinox at 7:21 p.m., as the temperature falls to the freezing mark overnight.
There is even a chance of snow in the early-morning hours of Monday, the first full day of spring.
Any snow will change to rain after 9 a.m. Monday, according to the NWS, as the daytime high rises to the mid-40s. There is likely to be a south wind between 13 and 16 mph.
There could be more showers Monday night.
Tuesday will be mostly sunny, the weather service predicts, with a high near 48.
