Thousands of Fairfield high school students over the last quarter century have gotten a hand with college costs from the High School Scholarship Foundation of Fairfield.

As it plans a 25th anniversary fundraiser later this year, the foundation is gathering contact information on past recipients.

The foundation has asked that scholarship recipients or their families provide contact information so recipients can be invited to the fundraiser being planned Sept. 28 at the Pequot Library.

"It's a great way they can reconnect with old friends and an opportunity to express their gratitude for the financial aid they received," foundation board member Norci Kochman said in a news release.

She said the foundation does not know the whereabouts of most recipients, so it is making a public appeal for contact information.

Since its was established, the foundation has more than $1.6 million in scholarships, according to the release. Among the grants awarded each June are memorial scholarships established by the families of deceased loved ones, PTA scholarships for graduates of Fairfield's elementary, middle and high schools, and scholarships funded by various community, alumni and business organizations.
