Fairfield sex offender's untimely death may be drug related
The untimely death of a Fairfield man listed on the state's sex offender registry may been the result of a drug overdose, police said.
The man, Hoydens Hill Road resident James Pinson, who police said drank and took sleeping aids, is believed to have suffered an overdose early Thursday. His mother discovered his unresponsive body on the family couch around 6 a.m. He was transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, but could not be revived.
Pinson's death took place on what would have been his 31st birthday.
Ten years ago this month, Pinson was convicted of injury or risk of injury to impairing the morals of children. Details of his case were not immediately available, but Pinson served four months in jail, according to his sex offender profile on the state website. He stood 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighed approximately 375 pounds.
Sgt. Suzanne Lussier, a Fairfield police spokeswoman, said Pinson's history with local police complaints dates to 2003.
