Three high school juniors from Fairfield schools recently won 2011 Future Global Leader Awards from the World Affairs Forum out of 34 winners from participating Fairfield County high schools.

Winners included Henry L. Burbank, a student at Fairfield College Preparatory School, and Fairfield Warde High School pupils Molly Cullinan and Rebecca Stern.

The winners have received a certificate of award and are eligible to compete for the forum's $10,000 merit college scholarship, which will be awarded to the outstanding Future Global Leader in Fairfield County in the fall of 2011.

Established in 2009, the program honors junior-year students at participating schools who demonstrate leadership in understanding global issues and solving global problems. The high school principals designate their Future Global Leader based on this criteria.

The winners will be invited to attend an afternoon conference sponsored by the Council on Foreign Relations in New York City in the fall and will be invited to forum lectures and events in Fairfield County throughout the 2011-2012 school year.

The World Affairs Forum is a Stamford-based nonprofit, non-partisan community organization dedicated to expanding understanding of global affairs and America's role in the world. The forum is an affiliate of the World Affairs Councils of America.
