Two 18-year-old friends became the victim of a strong-arm robbery while they were walking on Sigwin Drive Wednesday night.

Police said that the two Fairfield teenagers were approached by three suspects -- described as two black males and one Hispanic man, all in their late 20s -- at approximately 10 p.m. Wednesday. One of the suspects who was wearing a red baseball hat reportedly asked the victims if they had a cell phone. As one of the victims raised his cell phone, police said one of the suspects punched him in the face and took the phone, valued at $300. The victim declined medical attention.

The suspects reportedly made off in a newer-looking black Chevrolet Impala.

"We checked surrounding streets, but they were not located," said Sgt. Sue Lussier, the Fairfield Police spokeman.

Police are asking anyone who may have information about the incident to contact the detetective bureau at 203-254-4840.
