This first day of 2011 in southwestern Connecticut will dawn under partly sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service, but clouds develop later and the day could end on a wet note.

The daytime high temperature will be in the upper-40s, and there will be a slight wind out of the southwest around 5 mph.

Showers are likely tonight, the NWS says, mainly between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. There also could be patchy fog, with a nighttime low of about 37 degrees.

Tomorrow there is a slight chance of showers before 9 a.m., but the day is expected to clear. Under mostly sunny skies, the daytime high is expected to be about 45. A west wind is likely to be clocked between 8 and 10 mph. The nighttime low should be in the upper-20s.

Monday should be sunny, with a high near 35. There will be a west wind between 10 and 14 mph.

And Tuesday is predicted to be about the same, with sun and a high temperature of about 40 degrees.
