The Fairfield Public Library has awarded five prizes in its One Book One Town Writing Contest.

Winners were chosen from among 25 entrants who submitted original prose or poetry on the theme "Voices from the Past." The theme reflected the historical spirit of the One Book One Town selection, "The Watch That Ends the Night: Voices from the Titanic," by Allan Wolf.

Winners are: Mary Miner, first place; J. D. Hanninen, second place; Mary Beth Lane, third place; Heather Bean, fourth place, and Michael Shapiro, fifth place.

The winners were scheduled to read from their entries at a program at the main library Tuesday evening, March 20, and were to be guests at a reception with Wolf at Fairfield University on Monday, March 26.
