Fairfielder faces traffic charges after crash
John Taxiltardis, 33, of Short Hill Lane, was charged with evading responsibility and operating a motor vehicle without a license around 7:30 p.m. Monday after crashing into a telephone pole on Kings Highway East, leaving the scene and failing to notify police.
Contacted Tuesday morning at a deli where he works, police said Taxiltardis claimed the accident was caused when he swerved to avoid hitting a deer. After the vehicle came to a stop, Taxiltardis told police he tried to start the car but was unsuccessful. He also told police he didn't have his cell phone and instead walked to his fiancee's house, where he feel asleep after a shower, according to the report.
He was released on a promise to appear June 29 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
