Floyd "Bob" Kott

Floyd "Bob" Kott, age 83 of Manistee, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.

He was born on March 18, 1929 in Milwaukee, Wis., son of the late Floyd and Sylvia (Frelka) Kott. He married Elsie J. Laskey on May 7, 1949 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manistee. She preceded him in death on June 7, 2004.

Bob had been employed as a mason, as well as a truck driver by Darling Freight Company and Roadway Express, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church of Manistee.

He was a devoted husband and father along with being a handyman extraordinaire. He also served his country in the Michigan National Guard.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Eric and Colleen Kott of Oak Creek, Wis. and Lance and Cyndee Kott of Grand Rapids, five grandchildren, Cory and Kelly Kott, Jim and Kate Sommerville, Brad Sommerville, Matt and Val Sommerville, Nick and Stacy Sommerville, his great-grandchildren, Alyssa Kott, Brody Sommerville, Charley Sommerville, Liam Sommerville and Cole Sommerville, one brother and three sisters-in-law, Ron and Monica Kott and Joanne Kott all of Manistee and Gladys Kott of Georgetown, Fla., two sisters, Betty Bradley of Lakeview and Gloria Fox of Milwaukee, Wis. and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Fabian, David and Gordon Kott and one sister and three brothers-in-law, Janet and David Hersey, Lyle Fox and Jim Bradley.

According to Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 11 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Manistee with Reverend John McCracken Celebrant. The family will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass on Saturday to receive friends. Immediately following the memorial mass, a luncheon will be served at the Guardian Angels Parish Center.
