Forecasters say air quality is “unacceptable’’

An air quality alert has been posted for Fairfield and New Haven counties, with high ozone levels expected until 11 p.m. Monday.
The hot air and high humidity will cause oppressive and potentially unhealthy levels of ozone to build up, the forecasters said. Children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues are particularly at risk.
High temperatures are expected to reach 90 along the shore and exceed that inland. Isolated thunderstorms are possible beginning this afternoon and continuing through Wednesday, as cooler air moves into our region.
