Four sent to hospital following Fairfield crash
FAIRFIELD — Four people were sent to the hospital Friday afternoon following a three-car accident on Brooklawn Avenue, police said.
Fairfield police said that Vanessa Meranvil, 25, was heading north in her Hyundai Elantra when she tried to pass a car stopped on the side of Brooklawn Avenue. While making the move, police said she crossed into the other lane of traffic where she collided with a minivan driving the opposite direction.
The collision forced the minivan off the roadway, causing it to strike the curb and roll over one and a half times before finally coming to rest on its left side on the sidewalk in front of 1095 Brooklawn Avenue.
The Hyundai suffered immediate debilitating damage, as the force from the crash threw it backwards into the stopped vehicle on the northbound side of Brooklawn Avenue.
The driver of the minivan transported to hospital, as well as Meranvil and her two passengers. Police said that the injuries ranged in seriousness, though none of the injuries appeared to have been life-threatening.
Police said that the accident is still under investigation the Crash Investigation Unit. They ask that anyone with information to call the department at 203-254-4850.
