Francis R. Apgar, 21, a resident of the Black Rock section of Bridgeport and former student at three Fairfield schools, died June 6 in Bridgeport.

Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of Garry Apgar and Jane Mathews Apgar of Bridgeport. He attended Holy Family School, Fairfield College Preparatory School, Fairfield Warde High School, UConn-Stamford and Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport.

He was a guitar, cello and bass player. He enjoyed art and to draw as well as composing and playing music.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a stepfather, Richard D. Greenwood of Bridegport; a twin brother, Mathew K. Apgar of Bridgeport; four uncles, Stephan M. Apgar of Bridgeport, Keith K. Apgar of Kent, England, David Mathews of Milford, Mass., and William Mathews of Holliston, Mass.; an aunt, Jean Smith of Natick, Mass.; step-grandparents Richard F. and Jane E. Greenwood of Trumbull; several cousins and step-aunts, uncles and cousins.

A funeral Mass will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 11, in Holy Family Catholic Church, Fairfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 10, in the Larson Funereal Home, 2496 North Ave., Bridgeport. Friends are invited to a memorial reception and musical jam session at 2 p.m. Saturday.
