European Wax Center at 2000 Black Rock Turnpike will host a Fairfield Summer Fest event Saturday, June 16, to help a local girl raise money for a trip to Europe as a People to People Student Ambassador.

The event to benefit eighth-grader Samantha Strelzer's trip is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p..m. and will include free food samples from Bear & Grill and smoothie samples from Einstein's, according to a news release. Children's entertaininment will include a "moon bounce," face painting, arts and crafts and an appearance by "Kung Fu Panda" of Steve DeMasco's Shaolin Studios.

Tickets will be on sale for a raffle, which has a grand prize of a vacation at a beach resort on St. Lucia, the Caribbean island nation. The prize includes two rooms at the resort, but not air transportation, according to the release.

Other prizes are worth up to $300, according to Sharon Pomerantz, the student's mother, who issued the news release. Tickets are $1 each or 10 for $5.

At the event, Strelzer also will collect toiletries for Operation Hope shelters. The student ambassador program was founded by President Eisenhower.
