They'll be "Dancing with the Hospital Stars" at the Bridgeport Hospital Auxiliary's spring gala April 30 at Brooklawn Country Club.

A group of staff members and auxiliary members will pair up with professional dancers in a dance contest as part of the fundraising event. Participants include Drs. Kenneth Lipow and Scott Thornton, nurse Alida Shea, Gina Galder, executive director for clinical operations, and auxiliary members Rita Crispino and Maria Watson.

Proceeds from the event will support the waiting room in the planned ambulatory surgery center at the hospital's Park Avenue outpatient campus in Trumbull, the hospital's Dr. Tom Kennedy Toy Closet, nursing scholarships, equipment for Ahlbin Rehabilitation Centers and grants for patients.

The gala will also serve as a welcome to physicians of PriMed, a large, multi-specialty medical group that became affiliated with Bridgeport Hospital last year.

Co-chaired by Fairfield resident Bonnie Molloy, Monroe resident Amparo Castillo and Mary Ellen Bertini of Stratford, the evening begins with cocktails and a silent auction at 6 p.m., followed by a buffet at 7 p.m. The Dancing with the Hospital Stars show will take the floor at 7:45 p.m., with dessert and coffee afterward.

Tickets range from $150 to $500 and a portion of each ticket is tax deductible.
