FAIRFIELD — Police said a man robbed a Fairfield gas station at knifepoint Sunday evening.

Police said the armed robbery took place around 9:15 p.m. at Star Gas Station, 350 Jennings Road.

The store clerk told police a man entered the store armed with a knife and demanded cash. The clerk opened the cash register and backed away while the suspect reached over the counter and took the cash drawer out of the register. The suspect then removed an undisclosed amount of cash and left the store on foot, heading east on Jennings Road.

Store video surveillance showed a tall, thin man, with light to fair skin, wearing a purple bandana wrapped around his face, a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, work-style boots, and carrying a knife.
