Gertrude Kutno, 86, of Fairfield, died May 10 in the Jewish Home for the Elderly, Fairfield.
Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Sadie Herzig, and worked many as the director of Bridgeport's Department for Aging. After retiring from that post, she worked for People's Bank. A member of the Pioneer Woman, she was also an avid mah jong player.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Rubin Samuel Kutno; her children, Larry Kutno and his wife Donna of Seffner, Fla., Karen Kutno and her husband William Gherard of Trumbull, and Ilene Daniels and her husband Richard of Lewisburg, Pa.; a brother Milton Herzig, and her grandsons, David and Michael Gherard and Jason Kutno. She was predeceased by two brothers, Sam and Arthur Herzig.
Services took place May 11 in Loyalty Cemetery, Fairfield. The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home of Fairfield handled arrangements. Shiva will be observed at the Gherard-Kutno residence in Trumbull on Thursday through Friday evening.
