If somebody tells you to go fly a kite, just head to Jennings Beach on Sunday.

The Bigger and Better Kite Contest is scheduled there from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, sponsored by the Police Athletic League. The annual event is free, and competition is open to all children 18 and under.

The contest is only part of a full afternoon of kite-flying at the beach. The ConneciKiters Flying Club will entertain with their high-flying kites from noon to 5 p.m.

Following the contest, special prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place, the PAL said, and consolation prizes will be awarded to all other competitors.

Entries may be hand-made creations or store-bought kites.
