The behavior of some Greenwich High School soccer fans earned them a yellow card at Wednesday's girls soccer match at Fairfield Warde High School.

Warde Athletic Director Seth Fry called police to the game after he said some Greenwich parents and fans began screaming profanities when they did not agree with a referee's call.

One parent was removed from the sidelines, according to the report, and he subsequently apologized for the foul language. He allegedly told police he "got caught up in the moment." However, he was not allowed to return to the game.

Police warned the fans that there was to be no more profanity or they, too, would have to leave the game.

A call to Gus Lindine, athletic director at Greenwich High School, was not returned Thursday.

The varsity match ended in a 1-1 tie.
