Fairfield Prep improved to 7-0 on the season after a 3-1 win over Hamden on Sept. 27. Axel Whammond scored two goals and Gavin Neumeyer also scored for the Jesuits, who out-shot Hamden 15 to 8. Ross Keblish and Luke Finnigan posted assists. Assistant coach Jack Read’s “Men of the Match” were: Cameron Gough and Whammond with Andrew Chiota, James Burris and James Finnerty earning defensive standouts. On Sept. 29, the Jesuits moved to 8-0 with a 3-1 win over Shelton. Jose Garcia Mina scored twice for Prep and Joey Devellis also scored. Assists went to Ross Keblish, Gavin Neumeyer and Lucia Paoletta. Prep assistant coach Jack Read declared Mina the “Man of the Match.”


Notre Dame-Fairfield (6-1) lost for the first time this season, dropping a 2-1 contest to Newtown on Sept. 27. Jasmine Fred scored ND’s lone goal. Lancers’ keeper Tia Pascarelli made 11 saves.


Notre Dame-Fairfield defeated Harding in straight sets on Sept. 27 to move to 5-3 on the season. Scores were: 25-10, 25-20, 25-13. On Sept. 25, the Lancers fell to Bunnell in five sets. Scores were: 19-25. 28-26, 25-15, 20-25, 5-15. Meghan Burke had nine kills and six blocks, Olivia Ramos had 18 digs and

Rose Baker and Vanessa Joseph each had five blocks. On Sept. 21, ND fell to Pomperaug in five sets. Scores were: 16-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-23, 13-15. Vanessa Joseph had 15 assists and eight kills, Meghan Burke had 13 kills and five blocks, Rose Baker had nine blocks. On Sept. 28. ND lost in four sets to Bethel. Scores were: 11-25, 25-22, 18-25, 8-25. On Oct. 1, the lancers fell in straight sets to Newtown. Scores were: 25-15, 25-18, 25-19.

Ludlowe defeated Trumbull in straight sets on Sept. 28. Scores were: 25-23, 25-17, 25-20. Amy Lumaj had six blocks and four kills, Jo Blanco had 11 kills, 11 receptions and two aces, Jess Tamaki had 16 digs, 15 receptions and three aces.

Warde lost to Westhill in straight sets on Sept. 28. Scores were: 25-16, 25-16, 25-14. Clare Edminster had 10 digs, five service points, six kills and two aces for the Mustangs.


Ludlowe lost a 3-0 decision to New Fairfield on Sept. 29. Goalkeeper Grace Ghee made 11 saves for the Falcons, who fell to 3-4-1 overall. On Sept. 26, Ludlowe lost a 7-1 decision to Greenwich. Evelyn Hogarth scored for the Falcons with an assist going to Michelle Noeldechen. The Cardinals scored all seven goals in the first half and never looked back.

Warde got three goals from Alex DiPierrro to knock off Westhill 4-1 on Sept. 26.


The Notre Dame-Fairfield boys’ team lost a quad match on Sept. 26, falling to Weston 15-50, Bethel 15-50 and Stratford 21-36. The top finisher for the Lancers was Patrick Milner, who finished 24th overall in 21:34. ND is 1-9 on the season. On the girls’ side, the Lancers lost to Weston 15-50 and Bethel 15-50. The top finisher for ND was Donna Aguilar, who came in 18th with a time of 30:37. ND is 2-7 on the season.
