Halloween on the Green at Fairfield Museum Oct. 27
FAIRFIELD — The date is set for Fairfield’s most spirited annual family event, Halloween on the Green. Families are invited to come in costume to the Museum Commons behind the Fairfield Museum & History Center (370 Beach Road) on Sunday, Oct. 27 from noon to 4 p.m. for a day of free fun.
This family event, presented by the Fairfield Museum and the Town of Fairfield, will feature trick-or-treating, giveaways, performances, food trucks, bounce houses, games, crafts, activities and more. Elaborate Halloween displays will be set up in the historic buildings on the Museum Commons (Kids’ Cottage, Sun Tavern and Old Academy Schoolhouse) and the entire area will be transformed into an enchanting Halloween village.
This marks the fourth year of the new and improved Fairfield Halloween event (formerly known as Trick or Treat on Safety Street.) “We are excited to bring the Museum Commons to life for the fourth annual Halloween on the Green event,” said Michael Barraco, program director at the Fairfield Museum. “This year we have even more booths, activities and fun in store for families from the area.”
Generous local businesses are sponsoring the event, and local non-profit groups are joining the fun too. “All of us at the Fairfield Museum are excited to partner with the Town of Fairfield and dozens of community organizations to continue this much-loved Fairfield tradition,” said Mike Jehle, executive director of the Fairfield Museum. “We are also tremendously grateful for the support of our corporate partners that bring the Museum Commons to life with trick-or-treating, games, giveaways and more. This year, we are delighted to have the support of AFC Urgent Care, Code Ninjas of Fairfield, Double Up Dance Studio, Eye Physicians & Surgeons, Fairfield Parks & Recreation, Fairfield Rotary Club, GCA of CT, Kempo Fairfield, Junkluggers, Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, Knights of Columbus 2616 & Father Coleman Foundation of Fairfield, Kids First Pediatric Dentistry, People’s United Bank, Playhouse Gym, SDSS Martial Arts, the Sportsplex of Fairfield, TownVibe/Fairfield Magazine, WEBE 108, William Raveis Denise Walsh & Partners, and Willows Pediatric Group.”
Some highlights of the day will include a costume parade at 1 p.m., led and judged by the Honorable Kathleen N. Maxham, Fairfield Probate Court Judge; performances by local groups, hay rides, pumpkin carving in front of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and storytelling with the Fairfield Public Library. This year’s food trucks are Cousins Maine Lobster, Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes, Little Kernel’s Kettle Corn, Los Mariachis on Wheels, Milkcraft, Reno & Sons Pizza Truck, and Super Duper Weenie.
