The mother of a young woman who was murdered by an ex-boyfriend a decade ago will speak about recovering from tragedy and rediscovering happiness at a meeting of the Fairfield Happiness Club on Thursday, Feb. 14.

The meeting is planned from 7 to 8:45 p.m. in the Memorial Room of the Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road.

Audrey Carlson's then-24-year-old daughter Elizabeth was shot and killed in 2002 in the family's home in the Hartford suburb of Newington. She will discuss her journey to find new meaning in life, the Happiness Club said in a news release.

The meeting is free and open to the public.
