Helen George Tripoli, 94, died Jan. 19 in Cambridge Manor, Fairfield.

Born in Vintondale, Pa., she was the daughter of Mary and John George. She was a longtime Fairfield resident who enjoyed long walks along on the town's shoreline. In 2002, she and her husband, Louis, moved to Spring Meadows in Trumbull, until his death in 2005, when she moved to Cambridge Manor.

She volunteered as a nurse's aide at Bridgeport Hospital many years and also worked at blood banks. She was a bookkeeper for United Carpet Stores, retiring after 25 years. A member of Calvin United Church in Fairfield, she belonged to the church's Women's Guild and had been its treasurer for many years. She and her husband were also members of the Friendship Circle.

Survivors include a daughter, Beverly H. Lomnitzer and husband, Charles, of Black Rock; a son, Ronald L. Tripoli and wife, Patricia, of Essex; six grandchildren, Charles L. Lomnitzer and wife, Sharon, of Trumbull, Lauren Novotny and husband, Philip, of Monroe, Liesl Cugno and husband, Tom, of Stratford, Bradford Tripoli and wife, Eileen, of White Plains, N.Y.; Winston Tripoli and wife, Mieyo, of Tokyo, Japan, and Evan Tripoli of Los Angeles, Calif.; eight great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of 69 years, she was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Powell of Fairfield, and her brothers, John George of Fairfield, Albert George of Bridgeport and Elmer George of Newtown.

A funeral service will take place at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, and 10 a.m. in Calvin United Church of Christ in Fairfield, with Bishop Bela Poznan officiating. Burial will be in Lawncroft Cemetery.
