Two local homeowners reported to police last week that thousands of dollars in possessions had been stolen from their properties over a period of several months.
A Bullard Street resident reported to police that between March 31 and last Wednesday, two pearl necklaces, worth $1,200, were taken from a closet in her home. She said employees of a cleaning service were the only people known to have been in the house over that period.
In the second incident, a Shirley Place resident said silverware and jewelry were taken from her home sometime between last Dec. 24 and Wednesday.
Missing is $1,000 worth of silverware, a $900 tennis bracelet and two gold, diamond and sapphire bracelets, one valued at $2,000 and the other worth $3,000. The homeowner told police that the only people she was aware had entered the house were from a cleaning service.
The thefts are being investigated.
