FAIRFIELD — First responders rescued a horse from an in-ground swimming pool Sunday afternoon.
“Dash,” a 6-year-old horse, had fallen through the pool’s cover at the Mill Hill Lane home and was in the deep end, struggling to keep his head above water. The owners had a small piece of rope tied to the horse and were holding him against the side of the pool.
Police and firefighters removed the pool cover, and Dash was guided to the shallow end of the pool and up the steps to safety. According to the Fire Department report, Dash was “stressed but OK after several minutes.”
The horse was able to wander into the pool area, according to the police report, because the homeowner had left a gate open while mowing the lawn.
