Iraq history lecture launches library series

A lecture on the history of Iraq is planned Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the main branch of the Fairfield 1080 Old Post Road.
The program is slated for 7 p.m. in the Memorial Room and is the first in a library series called "Turning Points in History," the library said.
The lecture "Iraq: Creation of Colonialism" will be given by Mark Albertson, a historical-research editor at "Army Aviation." magazine. He has written three books as well as articles on history and current events for newspapers and magazines, the library said.
Advance registration is required for the free lecture.
Oct. 3 marks the 80th anniversary of Iraq gaining independence from Great Britain, and the lecture will cover the formation of modern Iraq.
