Why spend $100 to buy Dad a couple of ties for Father's Day when, for the same price, you might win him a golf outing at a legendary course in Ireland, plus four nights lodging in castle hotels there?

That's the grand prize in a Father's Day fundraising raffle being conducted by Positive Directions, the Westport-based nonprofit that provides treatment and prevention programs for substance abuse and other dependencies.

While $100 may seem steep for a raffle ticket, only 100 are being sold, Positive Directions said in a news release.

Other prizes include an iPad3, a Panasonic 32-inch LCD TV and a $250 gift certificate to Mitchell's of Westport. Each ticket has a one-in-25 chance of winning a prize of greater value that the ticket price, Positive Directions pointed out.

The fundraiser marks the organization's 40th year providing professional services, which include adult treatment programs for alcohol and drug abuse and problem gambling, plus adolescent prevention programs and education in area schools.

The grand prize is the trip to County Clare on Ireland's west coast. It includes four nights lodging, including two nights in each of two castle hotels, and a round of golf at the legendary Lahinch Golf Club.

Located in the village of Lahinch, the seaside golf club includes two 19th-century courses -- one built in 1892, the other in 1894, according to its website.

The drawing will be held Thursday evening, June 7, at a private reception for ticket holders and their guests at the kitchens of Aitoro in Norwalk. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served.

Holders of winning tickets need not be present to claim their prizes, Positive Directions said.

Fathers Day is Sunday, June 17.
