John M. Mikulka Sr., 87, of Fairfield, husband of Amelia Lanzo Mikulka, died March 26, 2010, in his home.

Born in Lansford, Pa., the son of the late Joseph and Ursula Mikulka, he had been a Fairfield resident for most of his life. Mikulka served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

A retired self-employed business person, he was a 4th degree member of the Fr. Coleman Council Knights of Columbus, and a former member of the Port 5 Naval Veterans. He was an avid New York Yankees fan.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four children, Patricia Lyons and her husband, Paul of Bridgeport, John M. Mikulka Jr. and his wife, Sharon of Corona Del Mar, Calif., Joseph D. Mikulka of Fairfield and William Mikulka and his wife, Lisa of Parker, Colo.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph R. Mikulka of Saddle Brook, N.J.; a sister, Olga Chapkovic of Mt. Arlington, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, March 31, at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Fairfield; interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call today from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
