Jean R. Pollack, 86, of Fairfield, the wife of Norman L. Pollack, died Feb. 5.

Born on Dec. 23, 1924, in Milford, she was the daughter of Grace and Samuel Rocks. She was a graduate of Milford High School and received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Connecticut in 1947, where she was a member of the Gamma Zeta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta, the first Greek fraternity for women. She was married in 1948 and soon moved to Fairfield. On Feb. 4, the day before she died, the couple marked their sixty-third wedding anniversary.

She was an avid gardener, photographer, painter and seamstress. A long-time member of the Bridgeport Camera Club and the Fairfield County Camera Club Council, she had entered photos, as well as watercolors and oils, in exhibits and contests throughout Connecticut, and was awarded top honors on several occasions. She also was an advocate for animal causes.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her children, David Pollack of Westport, Jeffrey Pollack of Seattle, Wash., Lisa Pollack, of New York, N.Y., Jill Capuzzo of Riverton, N.J., and Laurie Trainor and her husband, Tim, of Los Angeles, Calif; her grandchildren, Nevar Pollack and his wife, Marina, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Danielle Pollack and her partner, LaJohn McFadden, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and their baby Chloe Rose, and Grace and Julia Capuzzo of Riverton, N.J.

Calling hours are Saturday, Feb. 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
