John T. Dolan Jr.

Born in Chattanooga, Tenn., he was the son of John T. Dolan Sr. and Alma Coyle Dolan. A graduate of Notre Dame High School and a U.S. Navy veteran, he worked for U.S. Pipe, Olin Corp., LCP Corp., and was founder and owner of Shamrock Industries Inc. He was a sports enthusiast, played high school football, and sponsored intramural sports teams.
In 1998, he was the recipient of a heart transplant at the Temple University Heart Center.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Mary Jo Downs and her husband, Melvin, of Chattanooga; four sons and their spouses, Tom and Patty of Stamford, James Edward and Doreen of Hope Valley, R.I., Tim and Eileen of Stamford, Pat and Amy of Oxford; five daughters and their spouses, Carol and Jim Ashbrook of Monroe, Sarah and Jerry Zilske of Alpharetta, Ga., Nancy and Bruce Beobide of Yorktown, N.Y., Martha and Anthony Centopanti of Fairfield, and Suzanne Clark and her fiancé, Stanley Slosek, of Gloversville, N.Y.; 26 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Pius X Church in Fairfield. Burial will be private. Friends may greet the family Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road.
