Joseph J. Spisak Sr., 100, died on Dec. 15, 2010, in Cambridge Manor, Fairfield.

He was born in Bridgeport, but his family returned to Hungary when he was 4 years old. In 1927, he came back to Bridgeport. He was a Fairfield resident for 70 years. He attended St. Emery's Church and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was plant manager at Lewisburg Chair Co. and also worked at Custom Hall.

He is survived by a son, Joseph J. Spisak Jr. and his wife, Patricia; his granddaughter, Laurie Pettit and her husband, John; his grandson, Thomas Spisak and his wife, Kristine; six great-grandchildren, John, Gregory, Mary, Samantha, Molly and Matthew; three sisters, Anna Toth of Meriden and Elizabeth Spisak and Mary Szénéget́o of Hungary; and two nieces, Carol Toth of Meriden and Barbara Whitcomb and her husband, William, of Milford. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen, and four brothers in Hungary, Andrew, John, Michael and Ignatius.

Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road. Funeral services will take place be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, in St. Emery's Church. Burial will be in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.
