Joseph Stiber, 94, of Fairfield, the husband of Rose Lecza Stiber, died Feb. 28 at home.

A graduate of Central High School in Bridgeport, he had worked at the Bullard Co. for 41 years as a toolmaker, process engineer and retired as the head cost-pricing analyst.

He enjoyed gardening and yard work, barbecuing and traveling. He was also an avid golfer, and a sign and poster painter. He learned to read and write in Hungarian and was president of the American Hungarian Heritage Association and circulation manage of Magyar News since its founding. A member of St. Emery Church in Fairfield, he also belonged to the Holy Name Society, and was a former president and treasurer for St. Emery's Senior Club.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 61 years, include two daughters, Rosemary McCallum of Bethel and Joanne Wcislo, and her husband, Ronald, of Ansonia; four grandchildren, Joe and Dan McCallum and Raymond and Charlie Wcislo; two great-grandchildren, Steven McCallum and Ave Hope Wcislo.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 3, at St. Emery Church. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Wednesday, March 2, from 4 to 8 p.m., in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road.
