Karen Lindstrom Upton, 46, of Hopkinton, Mass., and formerly of Fairfield, the daughter of Richard E. Lindstrom and the late Alice L. Lindstrom, died Feb. 15 in the UMass Medical Center.

She graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1986, with a degree in hotel management and received an MBA in 1991 from the Sacred Heart University. She began her career in 1986 with Marriott Corp.; her division later became Sodexo, where she was a managed service provider for 25 years. Most recently she was a regional marketing manager for the New England market. At work, she was a member of several employee organizations, the Diversity Marketing Council, the Strategic Business Plan Committee and two networking groups, WING, a women's group, and SOAR (Sodexo's Organization for dis-Abilities Resources).

Earlier in her life, she enjoyed skiing, sailing, camping and horseback riding. More recently, her interests includes the culinary arts, photography, travel and visiting family.

Survivors, in addition to her father, include her siblings, Donna Donnelly and her husband, Mark, of Fairfield and Rick Lindstrom and his wife, Julie, of San Francisco, Calif.; a nephew Ryan Donnelly, and an aunt, Judy Cleary of Knoxville, Tenn.

A celebration of her life will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, in First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, with the Rev. David W. Spollett officiating. Burial will be private.
