Kicking Daisies, the teen rock-pop band that has made Fairfield its adoptive home, is truly the "Next Big Thing." The group, which played a benefit concert in downtown Fairfield Friday to begin fundraising efforts for a new youth/music center in the town, is the winner of Disney's Next Big Thing contest.
The foursome is headed to Celebration, Fla., to be part of a Radio Disney concert as part of Celebration Town Center's annual "Now Snowing Nightly" event, which includes hourly snowfalls on the town's main street.
Celebration is an 11,000-plus population planned community which is directly connected to the Walt Disney World resorts, developed by Disney.
Kicking Daisies, co-managed by Chef's Table owner Rich Herzfeld, is scheduled to kick off the concert with a full set after the 7 p.m. snowfall. Just after 8 p.m., NBT alumni Allstar Weekend will take the stage to sing the band's hits as well as holiday songs.
Kicking Daisies, as a result of its win, will also have a song featured on the Radio Disney James 13 CD as well as work on completing its own full-length CD. Kicking Daisies will also perform "Big Bang Theory" on Disney XD soon.
