Children's author Erika Cebulski will read from her book "The Pirate and the Kazoo" on Saturday, July 26, at 4 p.m. at the downtown Fairfield University Bookstore, 1499 Post Road store.

"The Pirate and the Kazoo" is the story of a modern-day pirate who is not very good at his job. The law-abiding buccaneer has never plundered anything and has not been involved in a single fight. He's so inept that his mates leave him marooned on an island with only his parrot, his cat, a compass and a fishing net.

The book celebrates diversity in gender, race and ability, the bookstore said, and is suitable for children age 3 and up.
