The Kiwanis Club of Fairfield will have its annual literacy challenge by sponsoring a town-wide book drive from March 26 through April 10.

The drive will involve collecting new and gently used books to be donated to Read to Grow Inc., a nonprofit distributor of over 100,000 books annually to less fortunate households at no charge, according to a news release.

Books should be appropriate for children up to the eighth-grade level.

Collection bins will be placed in both branches of the Fairfield Public Library, the town's public schools, and several of the town's private nursery schools. Last year, Fairfield residents donated more than 8,100 books to the Kiwanis drive.
