Lester (Paul) Huether, 94, of Lecanto, Fla., died March 30, 2010.

Born June 24, 1915, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a long-time resident of Southport. Huether was employed as a toolmaker for the Bullard Co. of Bridgeport. He was also a carpenter and a tailor, and a partner of The Window Art Shop, a retail home improvement business in Bridgeport.

Huether served in the National Guard in a Field Artillery Unit. He was an avid golfer and a charter member of the Alburg Country Club in Alburg, Vt. He was a 65-year member of the Southport Congregational Church of Southport.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Esther Everts Huether; a son, Dr. Jeffrey Huether and his wife, Carole of Geneva, N.Y.; a daughter, Bonnie Yanosy and her husband, Gene of Hernando, Fla.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield will take place Saturday, June 26, at a time to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southport Congregational Church Music Fund.

The Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, is assisting the family with arrangements.
