Linda J. Toth, 67, of Fairfield, died May 8, 2010, at St. Vincent's Medical Center.

Born in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late William and Esther Schon Toth, she had been a lifelong Fairfield resident. She graduated from Andrew Warde High School, class of 1960.

Toth received her undergraduate degree in elementary education and master's degree in reading from the University of Bridgeport. Her career as a teacher in Fairfield spanned 35 years. She taught at Nathan Hale, Holland Hill, Grasmere and ultimately retired from Riverfield School.

A membership chairman for the Fairfield Retired Teachers Association, a member and officer of the Fairfield Teachers' Bowling League and a chairperson of the Hospitality Committee at First Church Congregational in Fairfield, she remained very active following retirement. Toth was also a member of the church's book club.

She also loved golf, bridge, reading, traveling and spending time with her family and many friends.

Survivors include a sister, Nancy R. Trupp and her husband, Peter of Fairfield; a nephew, Will Trupp of Fairfield; a niece, Jessa Trupp of Fairfield; and her longtime friend and companion, Louis Rybar of Trumbull.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a nephew, Drew Trupp, and an aunt, Matilda Schon.

A memorial service officiated by the Rev. Dave Spollett will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 14, at First Church Congregational, Fairfield; interment will be private in the Memorial Garden at the church. Friends may call Thursday, May 15, from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
