Lawrence A. Laukhuf, 65, of Fairfield, died Sept. 8 in St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Marie Rosenberg Laukhuf and Charles August Laukhuf. After serving in the Marine Corps, he started a career in graphic design in the Art Department of Readers' Digest magazine. He was an associate art director for Western Publishing Co. and then art director for Guideposts magazine for 19 years. While at Guideposts, he mentored new illustrators and won numerous awards from the Society of Illustrators. Before he retired earlier this year, he worked in the publications and printing department of Gateway Community College.

Survivors include his wife, Lynne; a daughter, Shannon, and a son, Adam. He also was predeceased by a sister, Lois Laukhuf DeSio.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 661 Old Post Road. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be Monday, Sept. 12, from 4 to 8 p.m., in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road.
