Lawyers to discuss teen issues to mark Red Ribbon Week

In observance of Red Ribbon Week, two Fairfield lawyers will talk to students at Fairfield Warde High School on Thursday, Oct. 27, about issues such as underage drinking, driving and drinking laws, sexting and cyberbullying.

Although the week is focused on teens taking a stand against drug abuse, Victoria Ferrara and Jeremy Hayden of Ferrara's law firm in Fairfield, will discuss other issues to help create awareness for "a safer world for our children," Ferrara said in a release from the law firm.

The lawyers plan on emphasizing common sense and good judgment to alert the teens to the dangers of impulsive use of computers, cell phones and social networking for cyberbullying and sexting.

Red Ribbon Week is held in memory of DEA Special Agent Enriqué "Kiki" Camarena, who was kidnapped and killed by Mexican drug traffickers in 1985, according to the release.

More than 80 million people participate in Red Ribbon events each year during the last week of October.
