Leather coat swiped at Fairfield Library
A Fairfield Public Library staffer called police Monday to report they had video surveillance footage of a woman stealing a patron's leather coat from a second-floor coat rack last Friday.
The coat's owner was at the library attending a writing workshop when the theft took place, according to the report. It was not reported to police until Monday.
The video shows a woman with black hair and glasses, wearing a plaid coat take the $68 coat and put it into a flowered handbag. She was wearing a white name tag, but it was not legible on the video.
The coat's owner said she does not want an arrest made, but library officials want the suspected thief banned from the building.
