Letter: DiSantis needed at Capitol
The majority party in Hartford has controlled almost two out of every three seats in the legislature for decades. This is not good news for the taxpayers of Fairfield. Even The New York Times weighed in on this issue back in 2006, and today not much has changed.
"The Republican presence in both houses of the General Assembly has slowly withered over the last several years," The Times said. "The Republicans have not controlled the State Senate in 10 years or the State House in 20. ... This is not healthy for either of the two major parties in Connecticut and it is terrible for the state. ... One-party rule is for politburos, not democracies."
This is one reason among many why I'm hopeful the people of Fairfield will join me in supporting Chris DeSanctis for State Representative. We need more balance between the two parties in our state legislature, and greater fiscal accountability. DeSanctis will bring both, and is the kind of change that Hartford has needed for many, many years.
