Letter: Fawcett focuses on issues, not party affiliation
This is an endorsement of Kim Fawcett for state Senate in the 28th District. I've known Kim ever since she first came knocking on my door about 10 years ago. She wasn't going door-to-door to campaign to get elected to something but to campaign for a cause she felt was important to our community. I thought after she left, "Wow, now there's someone who really cares about this town."
I never asked her what party she was in, and she never asked mine. I can't remember what the cause was, but I signed on with Kim and have watched her activism and passion for our community grow ever since. She has been a state representative for eight years now, and I'm proud to say she still represents all of us. Kim focuses on your cause, not your party, and makes it her own. How rare for a politician.
I've lived in Fairfield for more than 25 years, and our town has grown and changed, but when I see Kim, I see the same person who cares about our community, who cares about us. It's so easy to get sucked into the polarization and divisiveness of national politics and just put your head down and vote the party line. I've done that. But not anymore, especially not at the local level. Vote for the person, not the party. Vote for Kim. She's a vote for us -- all of us.
